The great grape of Piedmonte making superlative Barolo and Barbaresco wines plus blended with Barbera for lesser appelations. From the word “nebbia” meaning ‘fog’ – which encompasses the region during autumn when the grape is harvested. Thick skins give the wine grippy tannins which can take years to soften. Don’t let that put you off though, these wines are worth seeking out.
